Xbox Series S owners can look forward to games potentially looking and running better in the future, as Microsoft has released a new version of its Game Development Kit that opens up additional memory for developers to use.Xbox Series S is already a little beast of a console, but it’s about to get even better. In an unlisted YouTube video spotted by The Verge, Microsoft outlines all the major improvements to its latest Game Development Kit (GDK) tool, which you can check out for yourself in the video below and include opening up additional memory for developers to use when working for Xbox Series S.Microsoft makes additional memory available for Xbox Series S developmentAs per the video, “hundreds of additional megabytes of memory are now available to Xbox Series S developers.” Reserving memory is common to ensure system-level features and the OS itself have enough to run without falling short, so it seems like Microsoft has found a way to reduce those overheads on Xbox Series S to open up a decent amount of additional memory for developers to use for their software. This will allow for potential improvements to “graphics, performance, and memory-constrained conditions,” which we look forward to seeing in action. It might be a little while before we do get to reap the rewards of this improved GDK, however, as it has only recently found its way into the hands of developers, but it’s still good to know that we can look forward to Xbox Series S games getting a bit of a boost.Excited to see how much more power developers will now be able to wring out of the Xbox Series S? Let us know!
