Microsoft and Europe’s conservation charity, the National Trust, have announced a partnership that sees Dorset’s Corfe Castle recreated in Minecraft to celebrate the launch of The Wild update.Seeing as Corfe Castle is only down the road from some of us at TrueAchievements, we have a little extra love for this project from Microsoft and the National Trust. The build itself is developed by YouTube content creator Grian, and it’s available today for all Minecraft players so you can have a go at turning the ruins into a magnificent castle.Corfe Castle rebuilt in Minecraft for The Wild update”We are pleased to partner with Xbox and see young people engaging with the UK’s rich historical heritage through the help of technology. Grian has done a brilliant job restoring Corfe Castle to its former glory,” National Trust archaeologist Martin Papworth says. “He not only accomplished an accurate recreation of the various historical styles within the castle grounds, but also miraculously combined it with his own imagination. We cannot wait to see more inspirational designs by more young minds!”You can download the ruins of Corfe Castle today to have a crack at rebuilding the landmark from the ruins for yourself, and folks will even be available to play on the actual castle’s grounds on July 31st as part of the National Trust’s Festival of Archaeology. Microsoft has also announced that a Minecraft Education Edition package is in the works for children to use in classrooms throughout the UK in the future, once again aiding in engagement for the country’s history. Will you be recreating this awesome castle in Minecraft? Let us know down in the comments, our blocky friends!
