Skull and Bones is set to sail onto Xbox Series X|S in November, and game director Ryan Barnard explains that the pirate game will “leverage that expertise” of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.It was just this month that Skull and Bones confirmed a November release date with new gameplay footage of the pirate game. Skull and Bones comes from Ubisoft Singapore, and we spoke to game director Ryan Barnard about how the game might build upon what Ubisoft Montreal implemented with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.Skull and Bones will build on what came before with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”The naval combat in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was mainly created within the Singapore studio,” Barnard explains. “Since then, the team has honed its expertise in the area. This was the core seed, as when the team received the mandate to create a new IP, it made sense to leverage that expertise. Naval combat is the core seed to building the game and has been the common thread through the development of the game. We’re a pirate game that’s about ships and crafting your own fleet, but with Skull and Bones we’re focus on elevating that naval combat experience — making it more responsive, fun and visceral.”Skull and Bones sees us starting with nothing and fighting to survive as we work to become the most infamous pirate on the seas. We’ll face dangers from every side; from the wildlife, other pirates, the weather, and even our own crew, which can mutiny if it decides it doesn’t like your leadership. We dived into more detail about the game in our full Skull and Bones interview with Ryan Barnard — keep an eye out for that this weekend if you’d like to read more! What do you think?
