Xbox Game Pass Non-Player Character (NPC) Award gives our sidekicks some love

The Xbox Game Pass Non-Player Character (NPC) Awards are a collaboration between Xbox and 20th Century Studios’ upcoming movie, Free Guy, to celebrate some of gaming’s unsung NPCs. As Ryan Reynolds so eloquently puts it in the video: this is “the first — and let’s be honest — last, Xbox Game Pass Non-Player Character (NPC) Awards.” It’s all a little bit of fun to celebrate the upcoming movie “Free Guy,” which features a guy named Guy (Reynolds) that has just found out that he is an NPC in an open-world video game — and that said game is about to go offline. The film is touted to be an action-comedy and will have its U.S. theatrical release on August 13th.The awards feature four non-player characters to choose from, and we’ll have until August 3rd to vote on our favourite. You’ll only be able to vote once, but there will be live polls to follow along with as votes are submitted. The four nominated NPCs are:Samuel Hayden, Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal – A high ranking UAC official who may or may not be entirely machine at this point. He’s always watching.Parvati Holcomb, The Outer Worlds – Everyone’s favourite shy and empathetic mechanic. She’s the heart of the ship and the crew, and she’s the NPC for you.Chief Trader Mollie, Sea of Thieves – Animal lover and vendor for the Merchant Alliance, she always has a voyage for you!Guy, “Free Guy” – Portrayed by Ryan Reynolds – Guy is a creature of habit. He has the same daily routine and has never done anything all that extraordinary. Outgoing and perpetually cheerful, but a tad naïve, Guy is a teller in a big city bank who is a fan of mid-90s pop divas.Who will you be voting for out of this pretty awesome line-up? Let us know!
