Check out what it’s like to watch Rory MacDonald get ready for a fight.

Former Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald entered his first PFL season this year as the frontrunner in the league’s 170-pound division, and he looks to capitalize on the opportunity ahead of the league postseason set to take place on Aug. 13.

MacDonald will face the defending champion, Ray Cooper III in a highly-anticipated semifinals matchup that many believed would ultimately be the championship fight. Joao Zeferino ended up earning the top seed in the welterweight playoffs following MacDonald’s controversial loss to Gleison Tibau in the regular-season finale.

FanSided’s Amy Kaplan got the chance to watch a Rory MacDonald training session in-person down at Sanford MMA in Deerfield Beach, FL, where the former UFC title contender is working out to prepare for the PFL Playoffs.

Fans got an inside look at what it’s like for the MMA veteran MacDonald to prepare for battle in the cage. In a video posted to FanSided’s YouTube channel, MacDonald is seen working on his footwork, striking, and range ahead of a tough matchup with Cooper. His training partners include ONE Championship contender Aung La Nsang, and Bellator prospect Adam Borics.

MacDonald is one of the few success stories from the league’s plethora of signings this past offseason. Anthony Pettis and Fabricio Werdum, two former UFC champions, were signed by the PFL but failed to make the playoffs in their first season.

MacDonald and Cooper will square off with a spot in the welterweight championship on the line, with the winner moving one step closer to the $1,000,000 grand prize.

The Professional Fighter’s League can be watched on ESPN+ every Thursday. Follow along with FanSided for all your PFL live results and highlights.
