Update: It seems The Coalition has made a mistake with one of its achievement descriptions. The Legendary Operator achievement will only require you to reach Legend 25 in an Operation and not Legend 100. Original Story: The Coalition has now revealed the achievements for Operation 8: Drop 1 in Gears 5, including a brutal Seriously 5.0 Chapter 2 achievement, another that requires you to dish out 400,000,000 damage in Horde or Escape, and more. The 16 achievements add another 500 Gamerscore to the game, with the most awarded from the Seriously 5.0 Chapter 2 achievement, which asks you to achieve 50 Re-ups, complete the campaign on Inconceivable mode, master all 23 Escape Hives, master all Horde maps in 50 wave and Frenzy mode, and get all PvE classes to level 20. If you’ve already been playing a lot of Gears 5, then you might already be well on your way to unlocking this one. If you’re a more casual player, then this will take some serious dedication to unlock. The Total Annihilation achievement, which requires you to do an insane 400 million damage in Horde or Escape, and Legendary Operator (which isn’t retroactive) only add to Gears 5’s already monumental grind. If you’re planning to 100% Gears 5 at this point, I worry slightly for your sanity. In terms of new content with Operation 8: Drop 1, Bernadette Mataki and Ketor Vrol have been added as new characters along with the new Ritual map — The Coalition says controlling both catacombs and the altar are key to avoid getting flanked. The Capture the Flag game mode is coming to PvP, along with some new rewards and a couple of prototype weapons. In PvE, The Coalition is adding previous Horde events to Custom Games, meaning you can now select and play previous events such as Boss Rush, Escape from Kadar, Horde Roulette, and more. There’s also a new Tour of Duty to work your way through. You can read more about what’s included in Operation 8: Drop 1 and some of the quality-of-life improvements over on the Gears website. Operation 8: Drop 1 arrives for Gears 5 on August 3rd. What do you make of The Coalition’s latest batch of achievements coming to Gears 5? Give us your thoughts in the comments below…
