Sean Strickland was very candid about his knockout loss at UFC 276.

Sean Strickland went into his UFC 276 fight against Alex Pereira with a lot of confidence. It was obvious he thought he could stand and bang with Pereira, but boy, was he wrong about that. It took just over two and a half minutes to see Strickland get dropped and dropped hard in one of the most impressive knockouts in recent memory.

Pereira is on another level as a striker, and he’ll soon be hopping many a man to get a shot at the middleweight championship sooner rather than later. Strickland found out about Pereira’s power firsthand but made no excuses.

In a video posted to Instagram, Strickland started off by accurately describing how his night went. “Well, that sucked.”

He then went on to further elaborate, “You never want to be someone’s highlight, but that’s the game you play,” he continued. “During the round, I kept thinking this was going to be an easy fight. I see everything this guy’s throwing, I’m getting the better of the exchanges. I’m gonna beat this guy up for three rounds”.

He finished it off by congratulating Pereira, “Hats off to Alex, he’s a f–king killer.”

What’s next for Sean Strickland after UFC 276?

Strickland took the loss in stride and didn’t seem too phased by the loss. While he was on a six-fight winning streak, Strickland has lost before, so no one should expect him to implode from this fight. He should be able to get back on track relatively soon and get back into the title hunt.
