Starfield Update 1.8.88 removes “cling ons” and improves Xbox Series X|S stability

While Starfield Update 1.8.88 may only be a small patch, it does bring with it a few welcome improvements, especially if you’ve been experiencing crashes during long playthroughs. According to Bethesda, Update 1.8.88 addresses an issue where space rocks would become stuck to your ship during space travel, fixes another issue where random guns would spawn in new weapon cases in outposts, and puts an end to “crashes while saving during long playthrough without going through the Unity.” Here are the patch notes in full from Bethesda: Starfield Update 1.8.88 patch notesGameplay:Addressed an issue that would cause space matter to become stuck to player’s ship during space travel. Loading a save will now remove the space cling on. Please note: This fix should address any space matter being stuck in your travels, but not in instances where player ships have New Atlantis attached. A fix for that will be released in a later update.Outpost:Fixed an issue that prevents random guns from spawning in a newly created Weapon Case after loading a save.Save/Load:[MSS/Xbox] Fixed an issue where players could experience crashes while saving during long playthrough without going through the Unity.On Xbox Series X, the update is coming in at 2.61GB, so you shouldn’t have too long to wait before you can jump back into the dark void of space and start unlocking those Starfield achievements again. In other Starfield news, Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed that Bethesda’s space RPG is now in the “top ten most-played games” from Xbox Game Studios and has racked up 12 million players since launch. Starfield has also managed to claim a spot on our list of the best Xbox exclusives and best Xbox RPGs.
