10 Steam Next Fest 2024 Demos You Must Play This Weekend
Streets of Rogue 2
Described as Deus Ex meets Dwarf Fortress (how’s that for a pitch?!), Matt Dabrowski and tinyBuild are throwing caution to the wind with Streets of Rogue 2.
Its unpredictable open world is ripe for exploration, giving players the chance to take down a corrupt president any way they want with ultimate freedom.
What does this mean? Streets of Rogue 2 features dozens of classes with unique traits and play styles, a massive arsenal of weapons and gadgets, destructible buildings, and a number of vehicles to hijack.
The Streets of Rogue 2 demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.
The Precinct
Players will be able to experience a world of 80s noir with Fallen Tree Games and Kwalee’s The Precinct, a love letter to classic cop films.
As rookie beat cop Officer Nick Cordell Jr., The Precinct tasks players with protecting the people, all while solving your father’s murder.
Gameplay combines the world of police simulators with action sandboxes. There’s never a dull moment in The Precinct either; players will take part in car (and helicopter!) chases, utilize a support system, and experience the grittiness of its vibrant city.
The Precinct demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.
Ballionaire
Outrageous wealth is in the cards (well, balls) with the release of newobject and Raw Fury’s new pachinko roguelike (yes, really!) Ballionaire.
Ballionaire proves that physics are fun by giving players the chance to build the perfect pachinko board and trigger over-the-top combos. Rules were meant to be broken, with more than 125 Triggers and more than 50 Boons.
This is far from your standard pachinko board, either; Ballionaire lets players spawn Eggs with a Chicken, cut Coins in two with an Axe, and even use a Boomerang for a second chance. When in doubt, players can also experiment on their approaches with the Laballatory.
The Ballionaire demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate
After wowing players and winning accolades on both the Nintendo Switch and Apple Arcade, the heroes in a half-shell are hitting Steam with the release of Super Evil Megacorp’s roguelike Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate.
Players will be able to set out to save Master Splinter from the foot clan with its online and local co-op gameplay, all while conquering iconic NYC locales.
For fans of roguelikes (like us!), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate will give players the chance to master powers like water and fire, utrom and ooze, and even light and darkness for a highly customizable build that’ll conquer your next run.
No matter what build one chooses, there’s no denying the sheer appeal of its “FIGHT, ADAPT, REPEAT” portal loop.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.
Rivals of Aether II
Platform fighting fans, rejoice; Aether Studios and offbrand games’ megahit indie fighter Rivals of Aether II is here to knock your socks right out of the ring.
10 iconic Rivals all await, with players fighting against the CPU, or with 1v1, 2v2, or Free-for-All battles. Feeling good? There’s also rollback netcode for those looking to take the fight online.
No matter how one chooses to play, Rivals of Aether II features competitive depth, accessible gameplay, and unforgettable characters that provide a fast-pace and twice as much flash.
The Rivals of Aether II demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.
Polaris
POLARIS Team and Variable State are letting players take part in mass destruction in Polaris, their new sci-fi co-op shooter.
And when we say destruction, we mean it; Polaris gives players the chance to smash, destroy, and tear down as much infrastructure as they want as they deliver swift justice to the Regime.
From there, it’s up to players to decide what to do next; one can carve doorways out of walls, tunnel through terrain, or even utilize the Skylancer to take things to the next level.
The Polaris demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.

Originally released in Japan back in 1993, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a full remake that feautres original and rearranged compositions, complete English and Japanese voiceovers, and designed based on the beautiful concept illustrations from Tomomi Kobayashi.

Lovish
True to 8-bit form, players will be able to take on bite-sized rooms, slice up monsters, collect items, and get to the exit with the release of LABS, Matt Kap, and DANGEN Entertainment’s Lovish.
As the protagonist Solomon visits each room in Lovish, they’ll encounter randomized event scenes between levels with hundreds of outcomes.
Manga artist Ryusuke Mita (Dragon Half) and music artist Matt Kap (Castle In The Darkness, Astalon: Tears of the Earth) also lent their talents to the title to make a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
The Lovish demo can be downloaded via its official Steam page.

Inspired by turn of the century beat-em-up classics, StrawberryOctopus Productions brings Hell on Earth with their new title Kings of Hell.
Players will step into the shoes of Vigilante Rockstar Lutin Lucifer, the Gentle Giant Enfer Belial, The Gun Toting Bad Boy Gremile ‘Hot Shot’ or their Manager and Master of the Seas, Mal Leviathan as they take on the current five Dukes of Hell.

A game definitely NOT for kids, The Edge of Allegoria will let players harvest the body parts of your adversaries for gain, more than 144 unique enemies (like ferocious Canadian geese and majestic tortoises), and citizens that are a little rough around the edges.
